How to Get Noticed as an Athlete

Many people around the world are uncertain on how to get noticed, or gain exposure, in sports. We’re here to break the news that it’s actually quite easy, and there isn’t anything to stress over. In fact, there are only two things you need to do, to get your name out there! Here they are:

1. Talent

The old saying goes: “if you’re good enough, they’ll find you.” This isn’t entirely true, as we will get into with our next point. However, it is true that if you aren’t a great athlete yet, your goal should not be to get noticed. Your goal should be to get better. In the event that you do get a scout or coach to come watch you play or view your highlight tape, you should make sure your performance is worth the watch.

This is why the first and undoubtedly the most important step in getting yourself noticed in sports is to make yourself the absolute best athlete that you can be. Going out of your way looking for exposure when you don’t have the necessary tools is pointless and even counter-productive.

2. Networking

Now that you’ve practiced hard and turned yourself into the best athlete you can be, it’s time to let the world know about your talents. The days are long gone where scouts will find you through word of mouth, or just by randomly strolling into one of your games. With the globalization of sports, and with how easily a scout or coach can watch an athlete without ever actually going to see them play in person, networking has become a key component to attracting attention from the people who will move your playing career forward.

Utilize Social Media

Social media is a great place to showcase your skills. 7 year old, Blaze Ingram, can attest to this.

He has been training as an athlete since he’s been able to walk, and his hard work was garnering results. His dad decided to start an Instagram account for his son to showcase his accomplishments. Because of his blazing fast speed, Ingram’s Instagram account began to blow up. He currently has over 500,000 followers, and was featured on ESPN. Since then, high school and college coaches have been watching him very closely, and he is certainly on track for success – all because of an Instagram account.

You can do this too. Create an account, showcase your skills, and maybe you’ll be the next social media sensation. There is no place better to do this than Sportamix. It’s a social media platform filled with people like you (athletes who are hungry for an opportunity), and people who are trying to meet people like you (coaches and scouts who are searching for their next star).

Get noticed!

Sports is arguably the most competitive/difficult industry to make it in the world. Still, it’s far from impossible. If you follow these two steps, your chances of success increase exponentially.

Don’t forget that having Sportamix by your side throughout the process is a great tool that can help factor into your success moving forward, so feel free to utilize our website as much as possible. We want to see you go far!
